The deadlock in the peace process was discussed this afternoon at Government Buildings by the Taoiseach and the Sinn Fein President, Gerry Adams.

The talks lasted an hour and a half - longer than expected.

Mr Adams said he and Mr Ahern had had a frank and constructive meeting and said he thought they both agreed that this had been a very bad week for the peace process.

Mr Adams said Sinn Fein intended getting in touch with Tony Blair. He said senior Sinn Fein members would contact the Government again in the next few days.
